Eurofins | BLC offers leather manufacturers the chance to qualify for the EcoSure certification mark.
The EcoSure Certification mark provides assurances that leathers are manufactured with good environmental stewardship and comply with the restricted substance requirements of the standard.
It will enable leather manufacturers to provide authentic and verified messaging to their customers.
All testing for this certification mark must be carried out and verified by Eurofins | BLC and based on or outlined in current British and European standards.

AUDIT
In order to be eligible for this mark tanneries must have achieved at least a Bronze Award in the Leather Working Group’s ‘Tannery Environmental Auditing Protocol’.
AMOUNT OF TESTING NEEDED
- Leather production of less than 500,000ft2 per year - The above specifications need to be met every 12 months
- Leather production of more than 500,000ft2 per year - The above specifications need to be met every 6 months
EcoSure Certification certifies:
- Ensures the leather is being made using best available environmental manufacturing practices in line with the Leather Working Group environmental audit protocol.
- Ensures that the leather meets the requirements of the restricted substance standard set (see Testing Requirements Tab).
- Ensures that the leather on which it will be used complies with the British Standard BS EN 15987 2015 (and is therefore genuine leather).
Having EcoSure Certification mark shows your customers you have a transparent and traceable supply chain.
It provides assurances that materials are responsibly sourced with socio-environmental safeguards required by the marketplace. This ensures that inappropriate exploitation of people and places and irresponsible use of the finite resources of our plant does not take place.
