BLC Membership Benefits
Leather making is science, pure and simple. So, what can go wrong?
The leather making process is a complex reductive and additive process involving 40+ stages, with the application of mechanical and chemical processes to a biomaterial. To successfully make leather, it requires precise control of time, temperature, pH, volumes, and mechanical action.
The challenge is to make leather consistently, there must be a robust process that is followed routinely to ensure critical measures are implemented every time. Minor variations in thickness, volumes, pH, temperature, weights, mechanical action can result is significant differences in the feel, look, handle, colour and performance of the leather.
Product and materials specifications
Your leather product should be specified for a particular end use and tested to ensure that it performs.
At Eurofins | BLC, we’ll create material and product specifications for our members, and we can also recommend a testing routine.
