Testing Services
Eurofins | BLC offers a wide range of flammability testing services for leather, textiles and mattresses
What is flammability testing?
Flammability testing is an assessment of how easily a product will burn or ignite, causing fire or combustion. Internationally a variety of test protocols and standards exist to quantify flammability.
Why do flammability testing?
In order for upholstery to be compliant with fire regulations of all countries, the product must be tested against one of the approved standards. If the product is tested in accordance with the British standard it can be sold in the UK only, however if tested with the European standard it can be sold in the whole of Europe except for the UK.
Flammability regulations cover:
- All filling materials must meet specific ignition tests
- All upholstery must be cigarette resistant
- Furniture must be permanently labelled
- Furniture suppliers must maintain records for five years
How long will it take?
Typically 5-10 days but subject to material type and volume submitted.
Please read our testing terms and conditions.
