ZDHC Focus on Sustainable Chemical Management at London Conference
The hot topic of sustainable chemical management through the leather supply chain will be presented by Dr Christina Raab, Implementation Director, The ZDHC Foundation at the Leather & Sustainability in Retail Conference 2018 on 15th November 2018.
Developing robust chemical management systems in consumer product supply chains is currently a hot topic for many brands and retailers. One of the main challenges facing the industry is how to successfully implement sustainable chemical management throughout a complex global supply chain without compromising on speed of delivery and product quality.
The ZDHC Foundation (ZDHC) is committed to supporting brands and retailers with sustainable chemical management through the identification and elimination of hazardous chemistry in the supply chain through the Roadmap to Zero Programme. Currently formed of 111 global contributors within the sports, fashion, luxury and outdoor industry, ZDHC understands the chemical management complexities and has developed a number of tools and support for its members.
Collective Approaches to Scalable Innovations in the Leather Industry to be Presented by Dr Christina Raab
Dr Raab’s presentation will showcase how collaborative efforts on sustainable chemical management can accelerate and scale innovations in leather supply chains. Christina will also introduce and call for action on innovation projects in the leather industry that help reduce the environmental footprint. These will relate to chemical product innovation for circularity; water efficiency and water recycling in tanning processes, as well as treatment and reduction of air emissions from tannery sites.
