ZDHC Announces BLC Chem-MAP as ZDHC Accepted Certification Standard

The ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme announces BLC Chem-MAP as ZDHC Accepted Certification Standard. Going forward, the above product certification will be an indicator of chemical formulations conforming to the ZDHC’s Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) v 1.1 within the ZDHC Gateway - Chemical Module.

Chem-MAP has been developed by BLC Leather Technology Centre Ltd. in partnership with Peter Gregory from Vert-Tex and will offer certification products to chemical suppliers to certify their formulations at the ZDHC MRSL Level 1 conformance. Furthermore, BLC Chem-MAP offers chemical suppliers the option to achieve Level 3 conformance and specialises in leather technology and chemicals.

“It is great to have BLC Chem-MAP on board”, says ZDHC Executive Director Frank Michel.

The ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme has always maintained its intention to leverage existing certification and the expertise of others as indicators of ZDHC MRSL conformance, as opposed to developing its own certification system for ZDHC MRSL conformant chemistry.

“As with ECO PASSPORT and ToxFMD™ certifications, the BLC Chem-MAP certified chemical products will be directly verified and officially assessed within the ZDHC Gateway - Chemical Module.”  says ZDHC Programme Director Scott Echols.

“We are excited about the Chem-MAP programme and are delighted to be one of the first providers of ZDHC Level 3 MRSL conformance. We are looking forward to engaging the chemical manufacturers in the Chem-MAP programme and working collaboratively towards improved chemical inputs into footwear and apparel supply chains.” says Victoria Addy, Technical Director from BLC.

The ZDHC Accepted Certification Standard process is open to organisations anywhere in the world to apply to be considered for accepted standard status. To find out more about the acceptance process, please review the ZDHC MRSL Conformance Guidance.
