Two Potential New SVHCs Listed
The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) has recently launched a new consultation list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), containing two proposals. The SVHCs candidate list will expand to 175 entries if both proposals are accepted. Interested parties have until are requested to submit comments and additional information to the agency about use, exposure, alternatives and risks of the substances.

Obligations
Once on the Candidate List, producers, suppliers, importers and retailers must provide business clients directly with information on the presence and safe use of any article containing the SVHC that exceeds 0.1% (1000 ppm) and consumers upon request. In case the total amount of an SVHC exceeds 1 tonne per year for all products, this SVHC also has to be notified to the ECHA.
