Product Environmental Footprint (PEF), a key topic at Hong Kong Conference
Dietrich Tegtmeyer, Vice President at LANXESS, will be presenting ‘Update of the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) for Leather’ at the Sustainability in the Leather Supply Chain Conference on 30th March 2017, in Hong Kong.
At Lanxess, Dietrich Tegtmeyer is responsible for Global Crusting Development and Leather Industry Relations. He is a chemist who started his career at Bayer in 1989, and moved with the spinoff of the chemical business in 2004 to the newly founded company LANXESS. With various positions in process development administration and R&D management he now served as senior manager for over 15 years for the leather business.
Outside the company, Dietrich served as Executive Committee Member for the Leather Working Group for 4 years. Currently he is an executive of the German Union for Tannery Chemicals and Technologies (VGCT) and the TeGeWa, an association representing the German chemical industry as well since January 2016 the president of the International Union for Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS).

New Chrome VI Method Imminent
An updated version of BS EN ISO 17075, the internationally recognised method for the analysis of chrome VI in leather, is due to be published by the end of February 2017.
The updates will see the method being split into 2 parts; part 1 being the colorimetric method (technically unchanged from the current version of the method) and part 2 using a new technique – Ion Chromatography.
