BLC scored ‘Excellent’ in the following chemical proficiency tests for restricted substances:

  • Phthalates in Leather (pt:iis17A12)
  • PCP/TeCP in Leather (pt:iis17A07)
  • Chromium VI in Leather (pt:iis17A06)

What are Restricted Substances?

Restricted substances are chemicals and chemical compounds that are controlled by global legislation.

Why Test Leather Products for Restricted Substances?

Regular testing of leather and leathergoods for restricted substances is an essential due diligence process. By carrying out your own regular testing, your business is providing commercial customers and consumers with assurance that leather products are compliant to regulations.

The implications of not carrying out any testing for restricted substances are significant. If your products are found to contain higher than permitted levels of restricted substances, it may affect your business’ ability to import/sell products into certain countries and territories. It could even result in product recalls where local authorities will seize and destroy unsafe goods, and your business could incur significant fines.

BLC Can Support Your Business

BLC not only provides your business with leather testing and restricted substance testing services; BLC can also support your business by creating a due diligence testing programme. In addition, BLC Members can receive
