Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) - New Update

On 14th June 2023, two new Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) were added to the Candidate list under EU REACH, bringing the total number of SVHCs from 233 to 235.

 

The table below shows the two new additions, the reason for their inclusion and examples of their use:

Companies have the following legal obligations under REACH and the European Waste Directive Framework if their substance or article contains an SVHC substance above a concentration of 0.1% w/w;

 

  • Communicate information for safe use of articles to customers and consumers.
  • Submit a SCIP notification to ECHA.
  • Notify ECHA if the SVHC in products totals over 1 tonne per producer or per importer per year.
