Changes to the Flammability Testing for Ireland

Flammability Testing in accordance with SI. No. 316/1995 (Industrial Research and Standards (Fire Safety)(Domestic Furniture) Order 1995)

It has been announced by the Irish Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment that testing conducted according to the The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended) would no longer be accepted as being equivalent to the Irish requirements. This change has been implemented with immediate effect.

Some similarities do exist between the UK Fire Safety Regulations and SI. No. 316/1995, however additional testing on upholstery materials is now required to demonstrate compliance with the Irish flammability requirements. The testing that is required to comply with SI. No. 316/1995 is in addition to any testing required for the UK Fire Safety regulations.

Eurofins| BLC can provide testing for the requirements outlined in SI. No. 316/1995 and IS 419:2011.
