BLC Invests in New Analytical Laboratory Equipment
A Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS) and an Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS), are recent additions to BLC’s analytical laboratory equipment.
This new equipment will be used to broaden the scope of chemical testing and to maintain a high standard of service, delivering accurate test results quickly.
Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS)
BLC are pleased to announce the installation of a new state of the art Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS) triple quad system (QQQ), which is a valuable tool for the analysis of semi- and non-volatile compounds and will complement the existing LC-MS instrument at BLC.
LC-MS is an analytical technique that combines the physical separation capabilities of liquid chromatography with the mass analysis capabilities of mass spectrometry. LC-MS-QQQ is a powerful technique used for many applications, which has very high sensitivity and selectivity.
Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS)
In addition to this, BLC have also purchased an additional Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS), an analytical technique used for elemental determinations. An ICP-MS combines a high-temperature ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) source with a mass spectrometer. The ICP source converts the atoms of the elements in the sample to ions. These ions are then separated and detected by the mass spectrometer.
