Dr Victoria Addy, Technical Director at Eurofins | BLC Leather Technology Centre Ltd.
Victoria joined BLC in 1992 after obtaining a BSc (Hons) in Biology. Initially, she worked in the research group focusing on the application of biochemistry to leather manufacture. Victoria was awarded a DPhil from the University of Oxford in 1998, investigating the use of biotechnology to affect lipid removal during leather processing.
Victoria is now a partner in the business and Technical Director. She is responsible for the operational aspects of Eurofins | BLC’s technical business, including research, innovation, and testing services. Victoria also specialises in chemical compliance and supply chain regulatory support. Victoria is particularly active in supporting the leather value chain with guidance around chemical management, relevant to chemical companies, leather suppliers, brands, and retailers.
Peter Hughes, Sustainability Lead at Eurofins | BLC Leather Technology Centre Ltd.
Peter leads the development of Eurofins | BLC Sustainability Services through expanding commercial opportunities, delivering specialist communication support to clients and implementing traceability systems for global supply chains. Peter is also involved with bespoke projects around circularity of leather and other materials, research into emerging material innovations for the sector and measuring the environmental impact of materials.
Peter has over eleven years of experience working in the field of sustainable development with private, public and third sector clients. Peter has previously worked in the food industry specialising in sustainability issues and supply chain mapping of the ‘food to go’ sector, concentrating on improving environmental and ethical performance.
Georgina Mawer, Chemistry Lead & Chem-MAP® Technical Manager at Eurofins | BLC Leather Technology Centre Ltd.
Georgina works with the leather, textiles and synthetic sector in the imposition of robust chemical management systems within their supply chains. Georgina supports brands, manufacturers and chemical companies with compliance programmes, due diligence procedures, troubleshooting and technical support on RSL and MRSL listed substances and the accompanying challenges. In addition, Georgina is the Technical Manager for the Eurofins | BLC Chem-MAP® Programme; a ZDHC approved MRSL verification system. In this role, Georgina helps to implement upstream chemical management systems within chemical companies, manufacturers, brands and retailers. Prior to joining Eurofins | BLC, Georgina worked in Analytical Research and Development (AR&D) and Quality Control (QC) roles in pharmaceutical laboratories after graduating from the University of Lincoln with a BSc. (Hons) Degree in Forensic Science.
