Are You Experiencing Puddling, Bagginess or Pooling in Leather Seating?
How does puddling occur in leather seating?
Puddling is a common problem and occurs when upholstery materials are stretched beyond the point of elasticity, creating a puddle or ring of loose material in the seating area after use. In addition, the structure of the seating and seating support can play a part in the propensity for puddling to form.
This leather problem can occur on sofas, office chairs, car and aircraft interiors and it often happens within the first few days of use. Synthetic alternatives to leather and coated materials that are commonly used in the manufacture of seating can also develop puddling.
The effect of puddling on seating is aesthetically unpleasant and may cause customers to complain and/or return items, which can lead to damage in brand reputation for retailers as well as manufacturers and may have financial implications.
