Heavy Metals Testing

Heavy Metals Testing

Products intended for limited contact should be tested for heavy metals for due diligence purposes.  The term heavy metals is most commonly used to describe metallic elements that are toxic at low concentrations.

BLC offer heavy metals testing at our UKAS accredited laboratory, we can test your materials or products for toxic or restricted heavy metals including cadmium, mercury, lead, barium, chromium, antimony, selenium and arsenic.  We are one of the fastest testing laboratories in Europe and can provide chemical testing results within 3-5 working days.  Established for over 90 years we have the technical pedigree in heavy metals testing to ensure fast accurate support.

EN71, a European standard governing the safety of toys where Part 3 of the regulations covers the migration of elements, is fast becoming the standard to be used for heavy metal safety and assurance for consumer products including leather and leather-based products.

See details of the MetalSure mark - testing needed for this mark is for compliance to limits on total heavy metal and chrome VI content within the leather.

Whilst many testing laboratories are only able to supply simple pass/fail test reports; BLC is able to offer additional support and advice immediately upon receipt of a sample failure.  In addition our experience of different material testing means that we ensure the appropriate test methods are used at all times.
