BLC in the USA

23rd May, 2011

BLC is now active in the USA supporting a growing US client base. BLC also participates in workshops and offers a range of US tailored training courses. Working in partnership with the FDRA (Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America) BLC is planning three new events to take place in Boston, Portland and New York.

Look out for details of:

  • One day understanding leather course in Boston (June 2011- date to be confirmed) - ideal for those who need to have an overview of leather, such as designers, buyers, quality control and retail staff, the course will cover leather production, leather types and descriptions, leather performance, specifications and associated leather problems.
  • One day understanding leather course in Portland (date to be advised).
  • Sourcing seminar in New York, featuring chemical and product safety issues (date to be advised).

A key benefit of collaboration between BLC and FDRA is the Chemical Guidelines for Footwear , which provides suggested limits and test methods for commonly restricted chemicals in footwear. This is available to BLC and FDRA members only.
