Leather testing
The only UK testing laboratory dedicated to leather testing, footwear testing and leather product testing. We are experts in all types of leather testing, from simple fastness tests to advanced analysis for odours and restricted substances in leather and associated materials including

REACH testing
. Our aim is to provide test results within 3-5 days of receipt of samples.
Footwear testing
Offering a range of standard footwear testing in line with CEN standards on footwear. Footwear testing comprises whole shoe, leather, component and fit assessments. The UKAS accreditation for footwear testing reinforces BLC's competence, impartiality and performance capability.

* Extension of footwear anti-dumping duties quashed by EU vote. The EU has voted against the extension of anti-dumping duties on footwear sourced from China and Vietnam.

* BLC wins EU contract to support Mexican leather companies doing business with European footwear brands. The support includes
chemical testing
advice, environmental and trade support.
* The
Leather Working Group
has formed a sub group that will focus on developing and assessing systems of hide and leather traceability. The purpose is to address the concerns raised about deforestation caused by cattle ranching.
* BLC present the
Leather Working Group
environmental stewardship program at the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) OLP conference in Donguan, China.

Nike choose BLC to co host footwear supplier conference in China.
BLC are very pleased to partner Nike in this event at the Sheraton Hotel, Donguan 9th December 2009. The conference is only available to Nike suppliers or affiliates and is aimed at advising and supporting in RSL compliance and corrective action.
